An ASL Airlines Belgium Boeing 747-400 freighter, registration OE-IFD performing freight flight 3V-811 from Liege (Belgium) to Jinan (China), was climbing out of Liege's runway 22L when the aircraft flew through a flock of crows, engine #3 (PW4056, inboard right hand) as well as engine #4 (outboard right hand) ingested a number of birds prompting the crew to stop the climb at 3000 feet and perform an instant return to Liege. The aircraft was on final approach to runway 22L about 13 minutes after departure when the crew initiated a go around from about 1000 feet AGL, subsequently climbed to FL160 and headed out over the North Sea to dump fuel. Engine #4 developed vibrations prompting the crew to again return to Liege immediately, the aircraft landed safely on Liege's runway 22L about one hour after departure.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Liege about 30 hours after landing back.
