An Iberia Airbus A321-200, registration EC-ILP performing flight IB-6973 from Las Palmas,CI to Madrid,SP (Spain), was climbing out of Las Palmas when the crew reported a hydraulic failure, stopped the climb at FL240, and returned to Las Palmas for a safe landing on runway 03L about 60 minutes after departure, the aircraft was towed off the runway.

The flight was cancelled, the next flight IB-809 was upgraded from an Airbus A321 to an Airbus A340-300 to carry the passengers of both flights.
