An Air Nelson de Havilland Dash 8-300 on behalf of Air New Zealand, registration ZK-NEG performing flight NZ-8262 from Wellington to Tauranga (New Zealand) with 50 passengers and 3 crew, was on approach to Tauranga when the crew stopped the descent at about 2000 feet ue to an unsafe gear indication and entered a hold to work the checklists. The aircraft subsequently performed a low approach to Tauranga's runway 25 and climbed to 3000 feet entering another hold for 50 minutes, then performed a second low approach to runway 25 and landed safely on runway 25 about 10 minutes after the second low approach.

The airline reported the aircraft landed without incident after reporting a landing gear indication fault.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Tauranga about 5 hours after landing.
