An Avion Express Airbus A320-200 on behalf of Condor, registration LY-VEV performing flight DE-833 from Antalya (Turkey) to Stuttgart (Germany) completed what appeared to be an uneventful flight. The flight attendants however complained about skin irritations and rashes that started to develop already on the previous flight DE-832 to Antalaya, however, the flight attendants believed these irritations were caused by the uniforms.

The aircraft remained on the ground on May 3rd 2018.

On May 4th 2018 the aircraft was due to fly the rotation DE-832/DE-833 to Antalya again. The aircraft was taxiing out for departure when a strong stench developed on board causing the passengers to complain and to refuse to fly with this aircraft, finally the passengers staged what was described as a revolt prompting the crew to return to the gate prior to reaching the departure runway.

A subsequent examination of the aircraft revealed, that both engines (CFM56) were leaking oil due to defective seals, strong contaminations of both bleed air ducts resulted. Both engines needed to be replaced.

None of the passengers or crew on any affected flight requested medical attention.

On May 14th 2018 the German BFU reported they have been informed about the occurrences. The occurrences were not rated serious incidents or accidents, hence no investigation has been opened.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Stuttgart 10 days later.
