A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-100, registration C-FPON performing flight QK-8291 (dep Jan 13th) from Toronto,ON to Timmins,ON (Canada) with 19 passengers and 3 crew, was enroute at FL220 near Sudbury,ON (Canada) when the autopilot disconnected and the control column started shaking fore and aft. The crew reduced the airspeed to 160 KIAS and the controls returned to normal. The crew declared emergency and diverted to Sudbury for a safe landing.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance examined the flight controls and found no faults. The stall system was checked, the #2 stall vane heater was found failed leading maintenance to assume the control vibration was a false stick shaker activation due to the failed vane heater. The system was disabled, a test flight found no further fault and the aircraft was returned to service under minimum equipment list requirements with the #2 stall system disabled. A service difficulty report was filed.
