An American Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration N782AN performing flight AA-60 from Tokyo Narita (Japan) to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA), was enroute at FL360 over the Pacific Ocean about 1000nm west of Seattle,WA (USA) when the crew received a right hand engine (Trent 895) fire indication, shut the engine down and discharged the fire agent. The crew drifted the aircraft down to FL200 and diverted to Seattle, where the aircraft landed on runway 16L about 2.5 hours later. After landing the crew advised they would not evacuate, they did have an engine fire, the indication extinguished quickly, no damage could be seen from the cabin and requested emergency services to check the right side of the aircraft.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Seattle until Nov 30th 2017, then positioned to Dallas Ft. Worth and resumed service.
