A Bangkok Airways Airbus A320-200, registration HS-PPE performing flight PG-279 from Bangkok to Phuket (Thailand), departed Bangkok's runway 19L and climbed to cruise level 340 levelling off at FL340 about 240nm south of Bangkok, when the crew decided to return to Bangkok, where the aircraft landed safely about 90 minutes after departure.

Thailand's AIB reported the left hand and right hand fan cowl doors of the right hand engine (V2527) detached during takeoff. The occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated.
