A Caribbean Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration 9Y-TAB performing flight BW-527 from New York JFK,NY (USA) to Georgetown (Guyana), was climbing out of New York's JFK Airport when the crew requested to level off at 12,000 feet to work checklists, they appeared to have problems with the outboard flaps. The crew subsequently requested to continue and requested FL330 but advised they might need to return to JFK. Climbing through FL270 the crew decided to return to JFK, entered a hold at 7000 feet to burn off fuel for about 3 hours and landed safely on JFK's runway 13L about 3.5 hours after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration 9Y-JMC reached Georgetown with a delay of 6 hours.
