A VivaAeroBus Airbus A320-200, registration XA-VAF performing flight VB-2224 from Guadalajara to Hermosillo (Mexico), had levelled off at cruise FL340 about 10 earlier when the crew decided to turn around and return to Guadalajara, where the aircraft landed safely about 90 minutes after departure.

Mexico's AIB reported on Aug 24th 2017 that the crew felt "a blow to the front of the aircraft" and some time later decided to return to Guadalajara. A post flight inspection revealed damage to nose gear strut and nose wheel rims. The occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for almost 4 days and returned to service after about 91 hours on the ground in Guadalajara.
