A VivaAerobus Airbus A320-200, registration 9H-SWF performing flight VB-3114 from Guadalajara to Tijuana (Mexico), was enroute at FL340 south of Culiacan (Mexico) when the crew initiated an emergency descent levelling off at FL100 about 5 minutes later (average rate of descent 4800 fpm) due to the loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft diverted to Culiacan for a safe landing on runway 02 about 23 minutes after leaving FL340.

A replacement A320-200N registration XA-VIY reached Tijuana with a delay of about 4.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft positioned back to Guadalajara about 7 hours after landing and resumed service.

In a letter to a passenger the airline apologized for the inconvenience due to the depressurization, that also caused the passenger oxygen masks to be released.
