An Air Canada Rouge Boeing 767-300, registration C-GHPE performing flight RV-1832 from Vancouver,BC (Canada) to Las Vegas,NV (USA) with 286 people on board, was climbing through about FL270 about 40nm south of Vancouver when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence, the crew observed a loss of more than 40 knots of airspeed, the autopilot was unable to cope with the situation. The crew was able to accelerate the aircraft and regain control, then continued the climb and the flight for a safe landing in Las Vegas.

The Canadian TSB reported the fasten seat belt signs were illuminated at the time, there were no injuries as result. Maintenance performed the required inspections with no damage found.
