An American Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N189UW performing flight AA-1783 from Charlotte,NC to Boston,MA (USA), was climbing through FL220 out of Charlotte when the crew stopped the climb and descended back to FL220 reporting a hydraulic failure. The aircraft returned to Charlotte for a safe landing about 45 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration N167US reached Boston with a delay of 2.5 hours.
