A Jetblue Airbus A320-200, registration N644JB performing flight B6-698 from Orlando,FL to New York La Guardia,NY (USA), departed Orlando's runway 18L and was cleared to climb to 16,000 feet when the crew requested and was cleared to maintain 5000 feet requesting to standby for the reason. Subsequently ATC instructed the aircraft to maintain 4000 feet, the crew advised on climb out they had a seriously loud bang, probably a bird strike, they were checking with the company and would probably return to Orlando. They needed to burn off fuel for about 40 minutes. The aircraft landed safely on Orlando's runway 18R about 45 minutes after departure.

A replacement A320-200 registration N659JB reached New York with a delay of 3 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 15 hours, then resumed service.
