A Thomson Boeing 787-800, registration G-TUIB performing training flight BY-952 from Cardiff,WL (UK) to Shannon (Ireland), ingested a bird into its right hand engine (GENx) on departure from Cardiff's runway 30. In the absence of abnormal engine parameters the crew continued the flight to Shannon for a safe landing on Shannon's runway 24 about 45 minutes after departure.

A post flight inspection revealed damage to the right hand engine requiring repairs.

A second Boeing 787-800 registration G-TUIC carrying a repair team was dispatched to Shannon.

G-TUIB is still on the ground in Shannon about 14 hours after landing.
