A Cebu Pacific Airbus A330-300, registration RP-C3341 performing flight 5J-570 from Cebu City to Manila (Philippines), was taxiing for departure via taxiway D, entered the runway at taxiway D to backtrack runway 22, then turned around to line up for departure, however, the nose gear went off the edge of the runway and stopped on soft ground at about 18:54L (10:54Z). There were no injuries, the aircraft received minor if any damage, the runway however needed to be closed until the aircraft could be towed back on paved surface.

The airline reported the nose wheel went outside the runway while taxiing for departure.

On Sep 7th 2017 the CAAP (Civil Aviation Authority Philippines) reported the aircraft was cleared to enter the runway at taxiway D and backtrack runway 22. The aircraft taxied towards the threshold of runway 22 for about 140 meters/460 feet (editorial note: where the displaced threshold due to the work in progress was located, see NOTAM below), then began to turn around to line up for departure. The nose gear however fell off the paved surface of the runway and came to a stop on soft ground about 7.5 meters from the edge of the runway at a heading of about 160 degrees. The occurrence was rated an incident and is being investigated by the CAAP.
