An Atlasglobal Ukraine Airbus A320-200 on behalf of Atlasglobal, registration UR-AJC performing flight KK-1010 from Istanbul (Turkey) to Ercan (Cyprus) with 121 passengers and 6 crew, was climbing out of Istanbul Ataturk's runway 05 when the aircraft flew through hail causing the nose of the aircraft to be dented and both windshields to turn basically opaque. The crew stopped the climb at FL110 and returned to Ataturk Airport for a safe landing on runway 35L about 25 minutes after departure.

The airline reported the aircraft was climbing through 4000 feet when the aircraft encountered dense hail. Istanbul was under the influence of a supercell, the temperature dropped by 10 degrees C. The crew used the side windows while landing the aircraft.

A replacement Atlasglobal A319-100 registration TC-ATD reached Ercan with a delay of 6 hours.

On Aug 18th 2017 Ukraine's NBAAI reported the aircraft went through hail while climbing through 5000 feet. The airline investigates the occurrence rated an incident under the supervision of the NBAAI.
