A Martinair Boeing 747-400 freighter, registration PH-MPS performing freight flight MP-8341 (scheduled dep Jul 13th, act. dep Jul 14th) from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Johannesburg (South Africa), was climbing out of Amsterdam's runway 36L when the crew declared PAN reporting the failure of the #1 engine (PW4056, outboard left hand). The aircraft stopped the climb at FL100, the crew shut the engine down, dumped fuel and returned to Amsterdam for a safe landing on runway 06 about 90 minutes after departure.
