A United Boeing 757-200, registration N14107 performing flight UA-66 from Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) to Shannon (Ireland) with 156 people on board, was in the initial climb out of Chicago's runway 28R when the crew, still on tower frequency, reported an engine (RB211) had ingested a balloon, they needed to return to Chicago adding, they needed to return not immediately, they were talking to company. The crew advised they had all normal indications but still were returning to Chicago. The aircraft landed safely on runway 28R about 50 minutes after departure.

The flight was postponed to the following day, however, the aircraft was still not ready for departure. The occurrence aircraft was finally able to depart for the flight in the early morning of Jun 12th with a delay of 31 hours and reached Shannon with a delay of 30.5 hours.
