A United Boeing 757-200, registration N14107 performing flight UA-1001 from Los Angeles,CA to Denver,CO (USA) with 174 passengers and 7 crew, was in the initial climb out of Los Angeles' runway 25R when a main wheel detached and fell onto the car of an airport employee. Other aircraft alerted tower to a tyre having come off the aircraft. Later ATC told the United crew that a wheel had come off. The crew declared emergency on approach into Denver, the passengers were instructed to brace for landing. The aircraft landed safely on Denver's runway 34L, vacated the runway and stopped clear of the runway. About half an hour the aircraft moved to the apron.

Denver airport reported a wheel at the rear landing gear fell off the aircraft on takeoff from Los Angeles. There were no injuries.
