A Korean Airlines Boeing 737-900, registration HL7728 performing flight KE-783 from Busan (South Korea) to Fukuoka (Japan) with 153 passengers and 9 crew, was descending towards Fukuoka when the crew reported smoke in the cockpit emanating from an EFIS display and worked the related checklists, the smoke began to dissipate. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Fukuoka's runway 16. Emergency Services did not detect evidence of fire or heat.

The airport reported the passengers disembarked normally, there were no injuries.

A replacement aircraft was dispatched to Fukuoka and performed the return flight with a delay of 4.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 9 hours, then positioned back to Busan.
