A Bulgaria Air Embraer ERJ-190, registration LZ-SOF performing flight FB-8798 from Rijeka (Croatia) to Sofia (Bulgaria), departed Rijeka's runway 14 when the #1 engine (CF34, left hand) ingested a bird and began to severly vibrate prompting the crew to immediately join a downwind to runway 14, stop the climb at 2000 feet and land back safely on runway 14 about 6 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A319-100 registration LZ-FBA was dispatched from Sofia to Rijeka as flight FB-302 and delivered the passengers still as flight FB-302 to Sofia with a delay of 8 hours.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Rijeka about 14 hours after landing back.
