A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration C-GGFJ performing flight QK-8719 from Quebec,QC to Montreal,QC (Canada) with 66 people on board, was climbing out of Quebec when cabin crew informed the flight crew about smell of smoke in the cabin. The flight crew declared PAN, stopped the climb at about 10500 feet and returned the aircraft to Quebec for a safe landing on runway 06 about 17 minutes after departure.

The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft vacated the runway and stopped for an inspection by emergency services, then continued taxi to the apron. Maintenance subsequently identified the odour came from the air ducts off the right hand engine (PW150A) and found, the engine had been overfilled by one pint of oil.
