A Republic Airways Embraer ERJ-175 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N132HQ performing flight YX-4411/AA-4411 from Washington National,DC to Fort Myers,FL (USA) with 59 people on board, was climbing through about 3000 feet out of Washington's runway 01 when the aircraft flew through a flock of birds, the crew reported they just had a bird strike and requested to level off, no assistance was needed. The aircraft levelled off at 5000 feet and entered a hold to burn off fuel advising they were going to divert to Washington's Dulles Airport, the crew declared emergency. The aircraft landed safely on Dulles' runway 01C about one hour after departure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground 18 hours after landing.
