An Alitalia Airbus A320-200, registration I-BIKC performing flight AZ-111 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Rome Fiumicino (Italy), was accelerating for takeoff from Amsterdam's runway 36L when the aircraft received a bird strike prompting the crew to reject takeoff at high speed (about 130 knots over ground). The aircraft slowed safely and returned to the apron.

The occurrence aircraft was able to depart about 2:40 hours after the rejected takeoff and reached Rome with a delay of 2:50 hours.

After landing in Rome the aircraft remained on the ground for about 4:45 hours then resumed normal service.
