An Aurora Airlines Airbus A319-100 on behalf of Aeroflot, registration VP-BDM performing flight HZ-5614/SU-5614 from Vladivostok to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (Russia), was climbing to FL370 out of Vladivostok when at about FL100 an unpleasant odour like overheating insulation was detected in the cabin, which subsequently increased, haze appeared in the cabin. The flight received indications "INOP SYS", "AFT CRG HEAT", "AFT CRG VENT" on the status page, stopped the climb at about FL190 and returned to Vladivostok for a safe landing about 30 minutes after departure.

Russia's Rosaviatsia reported the source of the smell and haze was identified to be residue of lubricant on stub ports for borescopic inspections, that evaporated at the high temperatures. Prior to the flight a scheduled borescopic inspection of the engine compressors had been performed.
