A PIA Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration AP-BID performing flight PK-743 from Karachi (Pakistan) to Madinah (Saudi Arabia) with 416 passengers, departed with a number of passengers not being seated. Following departure cabin crew managed to get the passengers seated somehow. The aircraft continued to Madinah for a safe landing about 4 hours after departure.

The airline reported they are investigating how it was possible that 7 additional passengers boarded the aircraft although all 409 seats were already occupied.

Pakistan's Dawn Newpaper claimed that those passengers were issued manually written boarding passes instead of the computer printed ones. The loadsheet showed 409 passengers as result. There are arguments running between cabin crew claiming they informed the captain about chaos in the cabin before departure and flight crew stating that the computer generated load sheet did not show any excess passengers and they were informed about the problem only after becoming airborne. Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority has so far not taken any action.
