A KLM Boeing 787-900, registration PH-BHF performing flight KL-895 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Shanghai Pudong (China), had departed Amsterdam's runway 36L and was enroute at FL330 about 180nm northeast of Amsterdam in German Airspace when the crew decided to return to Amsterdam reporting, they suspected they had received a bird strike on departure from runway 36L, initially they thought they had missed the bird. The aircraft landed safely back on Amsterdam's runway 36R about 95 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 787-900 registration PH-BHA reached Shanghai with a delay of 6 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Amsterdam 49 hours after landing back.
