An Air France Airbus A318-100, registration F-GUGO performing flight AF-1266 from Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) to Florence (Italy), was on final approach to Florence's runway 05 when a strong unusual odour was noticed throughout the aircraft, on the flight deck and cabin. The crew continued for a safe landing on runway 05 a few minutes later. When the aircraft reached the parking stand, the odour had dissipated.

The aircraft was scheduled to overnight in Florence and departed for the return flight the following morning on schedule about 9 hours after landing.
