A Cathay Dragon Airbus A320-200, registration B-HSL performing flight KA-169 from Kolkata (India) to Hong Kong (China), was on approach to Hong Kong cleared to descend to 4500 feet when the crew stopped the descent at 6000 feet reporting a problem with the flaps and requesting to enter a hold for about 10 minutes to work the checklists. The crew reported ready for the approach about 18 minutes later requesting a final approach of 12 or more miles. The aircraft positioned for an approach to runway 07R and landed safely about 30 minutes after reporting the flaps problem. The crew advised no further assistance was needed and taxied to the apron.
