A Rusline Canadair CRJ-100, registration VP-BVK performing flight 7R-283 from Saint Petersburg (Russia) to Oslo (Norway), was climbing out of Saint Petersburg when the crew stopped the climb at FL150 reporting problems with the nose gear. The aircraft returned to Saint Petersburg, entered a hold at 6000 feet to burn off fuel and landed safely back about 55 minutes after departure.

Russia's Rosaviatsia reported a proximity sensor at the shock absorber on the nose gear did not register following an incomplete release of the absorber due to operational wear on the seals of the shock absorber piston.
