An Asiana Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration HL8284 performing flight OZ-521 from Seoul (South Korea) to London Heathrow,EN (UK) with 199 people on board, was enroute at FL340 about 280nm eastnortheast of Khanty-Mansiysk when the crew received an engine (PW4090) fire indication, shut the engine down, activated the engine fire suppression, drifted down to FL150 and diverted to Khanty-Mansiysk. The aircraft landed safely on runway 24 about one hour later.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Khanty-Mansiysk about 9 hours after landing.

The local ministry of emergency situations reported a visual inspection did not reveal evidence of heat or fire. The passengers were taken to a hotel to await the arrival of a replacement aircraft in the morning of Dec 6th.
