An Asiana Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration HL8286 performing flight OZ-108 from Seoul (South Korea) to Tokyo Narita (Japan) with 263 people on board, was climbing out of Seoul's runway 34R when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet due to problems with one of the engines (PW4168). The aircraft entered a hold and returned to Seoul for a safe landing on runway 34L about 45 minutes after departure.

Ground observers reported the left hand engine emitted sparks and smoke on initial climb.
