A hole just below the windshield consistent with a lightning strike was discovered. The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Moscow about 22 hours after landing.
Germany's lightning map does not show any lightning near Munich around 21:40Z. However, there had been a single lightning near Landshut about 18nm northeast of Munich Airport at 19:15Z, just when the aircraft was on its inbound flight SU-2594 on approach to Munich maintaining 5000 feet overflying Landshut. The aircraft remained on the ground in Munich for about 2 hours and departed for SU-2595 on schedule.
