Austrian E195 near Belgrade on Oct 4th 2016, turbulence injures three cabin crew

An Austrian Airlines Embraer ERJ-195, registration OE-LWL performing flight OS-774 from Belgrade (Serbia) to Vienna (Austria), had just reached cruise level 320 at about 15:40L (13:40Z), fasten seat belt signs were still illuminated, cabin crew had already started service, when the aircraft encountered moderate to severe turbulence and rolled and jolted unexpectedly causing all three flight attendants to hit their heads. All three cabin crew continued duties, the flight crew changed flight level and continued to Vienna for a safe landing on runway 34 about 30 minutes later. There were no injuries to passengers, all three cabin crew complained about headache and minor injuries, two cabin crew reported unfit to continue duties on the next sector.

Passengers reported the trolleys were about to go walk about during the turbulence encounter and were secured with the help of passengers.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 2.5 hours, then continued for the next sector with a delay of 60 minutes.

The airline reported that one of the cabin crew involved was on sick leave for a few days.
