A Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N712TW performing flight DL-406 (dep Oct 10th) from New York JFK,NY (USA) to Shannon (Ireland), was on final approach to Shannon's runway 06 when the crew requested tower to have a look at their left hand main gear, they had an unsafe indication for the left main gear. The crew advised they would not continue for landing, but continue for a low approach at about 500 feet AGL. After the low approach tower reported the left main gear appeared to down, the crew advised they were just able to resolve their problem with the light. The aircraft positioned for another approach and landed safely on runway 06 about 10 minutes after the low approach.

The occurrence aircraft departed for the return flight about 90 minutes after landing on schedule.
