Cayman B733 at Grand Cayman on Sep 13th 2016, could not retract gear leads to red faces

A Cayman Airways Boeing 737-300, flight KX-106 from Grand Cayman (Cayman Islands) to Miami,FL (USA), was climbing out of Grand Cayman Robert Owen Airport when the crew selected the gear up but the main gear did not move. The crew decided to return to Grand Cayman and landed the aircraft safely.

A replacement Boeing 737-300 registration VP-CKW reached Miami with a delay of 90 minutes.

The airline reported that the gear pins were still installed in both left and right hand main gear during departure of the aircraft. The chairman said: "Whilst the aircraft was never in an unsafe condition, as the main gears were definitely down and locked, the procedural deficiencies relating to the pins not being removed before flight are very serious." The airline reported that the aircraft was removed from service, passengers and luggage were moved to another aircraft and reached Miami with a delay of 1 hours 30 minutes.
