An Expressjet Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of United, registration N12922 performing flight UA-4199 from Newark,NJ (USA) to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 38 people on board, was enroute at FL260 about 30nm south of Rochester,NY (USA) when the crew donned their oxygen masks reporting smoke in the cockpit and diverted the aircraft to Rochester. On approach to Rochester the crew advised there was not only smoke in the cockpit, but in the cabin, too. The aircraft landed safely on runway 04 about 20 minutes later and vacated the runway.

Passengers reported there was a smell of smoke in the aft cabin.

A replacement replacement Embraer ERJ-145 registration N15572 reached Toronto with a delay of 6.5 hours.
