An Expressjet Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of United, registration N11191 performing flight UA-4199 from Newark,NJ (USA) to Toronto (Canada), was climbing out of Newark when the crew requested to maintain 10,000 feet reporting a maintenance issue, they had a couple of fault messages on their screens and needed to run a couple of checklists. The aircraft entered a hold while working the checklists. The crew subsequently decided to return to Newark, advised they had a nose wheel steering issue and landed safely on Newark's runway 22L about 30 minutes after departure. After landing the crew advised nose wheel steering was okay and taxied to the apron.

A replacement Embaer ERJ-145 registration N12922 departed about 3 hours after landing but needed to divert to Rochester,NY (USA), see Incident: Expressjet E145 near Rochester on Aug 25th 2016, smoke in cockpit.
