A Nepal Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration 9N-AKW performing flight RA-205 from Kathmandu (Nepal) to Delhi (India) with 143 passengers on board, was descending towards Delhi when the crew received a cargo smoke indication, the cargo fire extinguisher was discharged. The aircraft continued for a safe landing in Delhi, emergency services did not detect any trace of fire, heat or smoke.

The aircraft was released to service under minimum equipment list requirements with the cargo fire extinguiser inoperate due to lack of fire agent. However, the cargo hold was loaded with passenger luggage, the aircraft departed for the return flight RA-206 to Kathmandu with 140 passengers on board and landed safely in Kathmandu, where maintenance grounded the aircraft.

The aircraft resumed service after 55 hours on the ground in Kathmandu.
