During descent towards Newark the crew declared emergency reporting trouble with the spoilers and thrust reversers. The aircraft landed safely on Newark's runway 04R about 50 minutes after the onset of trouble.

The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft encountered secondary flight control problems. The airline reported the aircraft suffered a Module Avionics Unit (MAU 3A) fault which affected some flight controls.

On Aug 3rd 2012 the TSB added that maintenance replaced the network interface controller/processor.
