An Air China Airbus A330-200, registration B-6549 performing flight CA-936 (dep Jun 19th) from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Shanghai Pudong (China), was descending towards Shanghai when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence causing injuries to 17 occupants. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Pudong's runway 17R, the injured were taken to hospitals.

The airline reported the aircraft had just entered the Shanghai area when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence. Passengers who not yet buckled in and cabin crew received injuries, one female passenger received serious injuries, 12 female and 4 male received minor injuries. 5 were still in hospital care the following day.
