An Endeavor Canadair CRJ-900 on behalf of Delta Airlines, registration N935XJ performing flight 9E-4068/DL-4068 from New York JFK,NY (USA) to Toronto,ON (Canada), landed on Toronto's runway 06R and was instructed to hold short of runway 06L, the crew acknowledged the instruction. The aircraft vacated runway 06R via taxiway D5.

In the meantime tower cleared a Westjet Boeing 737-800, registration C-GVWA performing flight WS-370 from Toronto,ON to Ottawa,ON (Canada) with 91 people on board, for takeoff from runway 06L.

While the Westjet was accelerating for takeoff, the CRJ crossed the hold short line of runway 06L and was instructed to stop immediately. The aircraft stopped, however the aircraft had already crossed the hold short line with its full length. The Westjet continued takeoff and landed safely in Ottawa without further incident.

The Canadian TSB reported they are assessing the occurrence to decide, whether an investigation will be opened.
