The aircraft landed safely on Fortaleza's runway 13, however, the left hand brakes overheated. The passengers disembarked normally.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Fortaleza for about 27 hours, then positioned to Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil) and is now still on the ground in Sao Paulo about 90 hours after landing at Guarulhos Airport.

The airline confirmed a technical problem causing smoke in the cabin. Maintenance is attempting to get the aircraft ready for a departure later on Apr 17th, if this turns out not possible, the airline is going to invoke the next best alternative solution for the passengers.

Brazil's CENIPA rated the occurrence a serious incident and opened an investigation.
