A Kalstar Aviation Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration PK-KSC performing flight KD-931 from Banjarmasin to Kotabaru (Indonesia) with 36 people on board, was climbing out of Banjarmasin when the crew received a fire indication for the left hand engine (PW127), stopped the climb, shut the engine down, activated the fire suppression and returned to Banjarmasin for a safe landing on runway 10 about 15 minutes after departure. The aircraft stopped on the runway and was evacuated. There were no injuries.

The aircraft was towed to the apron about one hour after landing.

Indonesia's Ministry of Transport confirmed the aircraft suffered an engine fire indication, the engine was shut down.
