A Gol Linhas Aereas Boeing 737-800, registration PR-GOP performing flight G3-1321 from Maringa,PR to Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil) with 162 people on board, was climbing through 10,000 feet out of Maringa when the left hand engine (CFM56) emitted a loud bang and streaks of flame prompting the crew to level off, reduce the engine thrust and return to Maringa. The aircraft landed safely back.

The airline reported the crew performed the recommended checklist actions and limited the engine thrust.

The passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
