A Wizz Air Airbus A320-200, registration HA-LYU performing flight W6-2485 from Budapest (Hungary) to Tirgu Mures (Romania), was enroute at FL270 about 70nm northwest of Tirgu Mures about to reach the top of descent when the crew decided to return to Budapest, climbed the aircraft to FL280 for the flight back. On descent towards Budapest the crew requested runway 31R (active runways were 13L/13R) advising they would be able to vacate the runway via a high speed turn off (high speed turn offs only available on runway 31R). The aircraft landed safely on runway 31R about 45 minutes after turning around and vacated the runway.

On Feb 29th 2016 the airline told The Aviation Herald that the crew received indication of a nose wheel steering fault and decided to return to Budapest. The passengers received refreshments and were taken to Tirgu Mures by a replacement aircraft.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration HA-LWE reached Tirgu Mures with a delay of 4.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 16 hours and resumed service the following morning.
