A China Eastern Airlines Airbus A321-200, flight MU-5396 from Zhengzhou to Shanghai Hongqiao (China), was landing at Shanghai's Hongqiao Airport when an engine ingested a bird. The crew continued for a safe landing.

The engine received damage requiring repairs over night, the subsequent flights scheduled to be flown by the incident flight were delayed until a replacement aircraft was ready.
