A Garuda Boeing 737-800, registration PK-GEJ performing flight GA-174 from Jakarta to Pekanbaru (Indonesia) with 162 passengers, landed on Pekanbaru's runway 36 in heavy rain at about 15:32L (08:32Z) but veered left off the runway and came to a stop with all wheels off paved surface past the runway end. No injuries occurred.

The airport had to be closed until Jul 18th. The aircraft is still in its final position, engineers have not been able to move the aircraft yet (standing Jul 18th 17:30Z). The airport was reopened with a shortened runway and restrictions on Jul 18th 08:00L (01:00Z) (also see NOTAMs).
