A Horizon Air de Havilland Dash 8-400 on behalf of Alaska Airlines, registration N416QX performing flight QX-452/AS-2452 from Medford,OR to Seattle,WA (USA) with 71 people on board, was enroute at FL240 about 70nm south of Portland,OR when the crew decided to divert to Portland due to technical problems on board advising ATC they would need to stop on the runway. The aircraft positioned for an approach to runway 28L but went around immediately declaring emergency reporting they had no indication the gear had come down. The aircraft entered a hold at 6000 feet while the crew worked the related checklists, then the crew reported they had the gear down and were ready for another approach. The aircraft landed safely on Portland's runway 28L about 50 minutes after leaving FL240 and about 30 minutes after the go-around.

A replacement Dash 8-400 reached Seattle with a delay of 2 hours.
