A Monarch Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration G-ZBAG performing flight ZB-654 from Manchester,EN (UK) to Malaga,SP (Spain) with 154 passengers and 7 crew, was climbing through FL210 out of Manchester when the crew stopped the climb and decided to return to Manchester due to a loose part hanging off the right hand wing. The aircraft landed safely back on Manchester's runway 05L about 45 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration G-OZBG reached Malaga with a delay of 4 hours.

The airline confirmed a minor technical fault.

A passenger reported the crew provided top quality communication telling them there was a technical issue. The passenger reported they were descending fast but oxygen masks did not deploy.
